Today's BCCI decision may favour Ravi Ashwin over the injured Axar Patel in the Indian ODI World Cup squad - REPORT

Mumbai: The Indian team for the 2019 ODI World Cup will be announced by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) today. Therefore, they have until the end of today to make any last-minute changes that they wish to include. Axar Patel is yet to fully recover from his injury, therefore veteran Ravichandran Ashwin can be called up at the last minute to the India team. Ashwin, a member of the team that won the 2011 World Cup, is not a recognised member of the India World Cup roster. He does, however, have a good chance of succeeding now. Today might be the formal day for the decision.

During the Asia Cup match against Bangladesh, Axar strained his left quadriceps. He was transferred to Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy (NCA). Due to his injury, he also missed the third and final ODI.

Australia avoided an unprecedented series sweep by defeating India by 66 runs in the third One Day International on Wednesday.

India needed to score 353 runs to win, but Australia only allowed them to score 286 in 49.4 overs. But India prevailed 2-1 in the three-match series.

After impactful hits from Mitchell Marsh (96), Steve Smith (74), Marnus Labuschagne (72) and David Warner (56), the Australians quickly reached 352 for 7.

Among Indian bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah was the most successful, recording three for 81.
