Senior Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has identified two players who, in his opinion, have a chance to take home the Player of the Tournament trophy at the future ICC Men's ODI World Cup in 2023. In less than a week, the 2023 ODI World Cup is scheduled to get underway. Ten teams will fight against one another for the major award. Along with teams like England, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, India will begin as the favourites to win the championship.
The seasoned Indian stumper Karthik was questioned by a follower during a Q&A session on X (previously Twitter) prior to the start of the 50-over megaevent: "According to you, who will be your player of the series WC23?" and in response, the 38-year-old cricketer, who participated in the 2019 tournament, supported the candidatures of Australia's Glenn Maxwell and India's great all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Pandya and Maxwell have both been performing well lately. While Maxwell picked up four wickets against India on September 27 in Rajkot during his comeback game, Pandya excelled with his all-around performance throughout the Asia Cup 2023.
The 2023 season will mark Hardik's second ODI World Cup competition. He also participated in the 2019 tournament, where India lost to New Zealand in a sad match in the semifinal that took place over two days due to rain in Manchester.

When the Michael Clarke-led team triumphed in front of home supporters in the 2015 ODI World Cup, Maxwell, an Australian star, already had the trophy in his possession. In the ODI World Cup 2023, Maxwell will be a crucial player for Australia, both with the bat and the ball. His bowling in the middle overs will be essential for the five-time champions because the competition is being held in India, where the conditions favour spinners.
