Shardul Thakur receives the best fielder award from Virat Kohli following his spectacular catch in the IND vs AFG match

Following India's victory over Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi yesterday, Indian bowler Shardul Thakur has received a lot of accolades for his amazing catch in the match.

In this regard, Virat Kohli performs a lovely gesture by passing the best fielder medal to the Indian bowler.

Virat can be seen awarding the medal to Thakur in a video shared by the BCCI on X, with the Indian squad present in the dressing room.

Hardik was bowling the fourth ball of the thirteenth over to Afghan hitter Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the first innings. Gurbaaz tossed a bouncer ball into the air, which flew to Thakur.

Thakur made a good judgment call and collected the ball before it crossed the boundary line. But just as he was about to cross the line, he tossed the ball into the air.  He balances by putting one foot beyond the boundary line and then coming inside to collect the ball, leaving Gurbaaz for 21 runs.

Prior to Thakur receiving the best fielder award, Kohli won the best fielder award from fielding coach T. Dilip for his outstanding fielding in India's World Cup 2023 opener against Australia.

Kohli collected two catches in the match, making him the Indian player with the most catches in ODI World Cups.

India is preparing to face archrival Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday (14 October).
