On Saturday night, a tourist bus carrying 55 passengers crashed into a gorge not far from Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, resulting in at least nine fatalities and multiple injuries. When the event occurred, the bus was driving from Ooty to Mettupalayam.
Around eight individuals passed away, and a few more suffered major injuries, according to DIG Coimbatore Zone Saravana Sundar. Further research is being done.
Four women and a young boy were among the deceased, according to the police. The victims of the tragedy, who were returning home from work, were travelling from Kadayam in the Tenkasi district.

The bus's driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to fall into the gorge. Locals, police officers, firefighters, and rescue personnel jumped to the help of the victims and saved the injured.
Rescuers were spotted using ropes to descend to the bus and reach out to the passengers as it overturned owing to the impact of the collision.
A rescue effort is currently under progress, and all injured people have been transported to the Coonoor government hospital for medical attention.
M K Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, expressed his sorrow over the deaths and promised financial assistance to the surviving family members. He conveyed his worry over the incident and his sympathy for the victims' families.

The CM declared a relief of Rs 2 lakh apiece for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for those receiving treatment for severe injuries.
He added in a statement that individuals who had slight injuries will receive Rs 50,000. He oversaw the injured's special care.
BJP State President K Annamalai took to X, (previously Twitter), and pleaded with the Tamil Nadu government to provide the injured with top-notch care. The CM also announced that he had assigned Tourism Minister K Ramachandran to oversee the rescue and relief efforts. "I was shocked to learn that a tourist bus accident in Coonoor resulted in the deaths of 8 persons. The vehicle overturned in a 50-foot ditch. They have my sincere sympathies, @BJP4Tamilnadu, on behalf of their family. I ask God for everyone who has been hurt and is receiving medical attention to recover quickly. I request that the Tamil Nadu government give them top-notch care.
