After diplomats were refused entry to a Scottish gurudwara, India claimed that "non-local extremists disrupted event."

In a statement released on Saturday, the Indian High Commission in London claimed that "non-local extremist elements" purposefully interfered with High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami's visit to a Scottish gurdwara. The gurdwara committee had scheduled an engagement, but it was cancelled after "three persons from areas outside Scotland" threatened and verbally insulted the organisers, prompting the high commissioner and consul general to depart.

"On September 29, 2023, three individuals—all from outside Scotland—deliberately interfered with a planned gathering that had been planned by the gurudwara committee for the community, the high commissioner, and the Indian consul general. Senior community leaders, ladies and committee members, and a Scottish Parliament member were among the planners. These people intimidated and mistreated them. "The HC and CG decided to leave the premises shortly after they arrived in an effort to avoid any potential altercation," the Indian High Commission in London said in a statement, which was released after indignation over Doraiswami being barred from entering the gurdwara.

However, the Indian High Commission stated that he as well as the Indian Consul-General were to attend a planned function. Senior community leaders, women, committee members, and a Scottish MP were among the event's organisers.

Doraiswami, it appears, made the decision to leave after the outsiders also threatened the organisers. According to the Indian High Commission in London, one of the individuals forcibly wrenched open the envoy's car door, but the organisers' quick response and physical involvement prevented a "bigger incident" from occurring.

The high commission added that a police inquiry is necessary, and several community bodies, including the interaction's organisers, have publicly expressed regret for the event and encouraged the authorities to punish those responsible.

"One of the non-local extreme groups made a violent effort to force open the HC's automobile door; this will require appropriate police attention. A larger altercation was averted thanks to one of the organisers' fast thinking and physical intervention at the car door. The event has been officially regretted by a number of community organisation, including the organisers, who have also requested the authorities to punish those responsible.
