In response to viral images of the Pakistan cricket team receiving a warm welcome ahead of their World Cup match against India, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut slammed the ruling BJP, stating, "This can only happen in Gujarat." He claimed that if this had happened in another state, the party would have "hued and cried."
"The Pakistan team will be warmly welcomed in Gujarat." This is only possible in the state of Gujarat. If this had happened in another state, the BJP supporters would have been outraged. The BJP wants to teach us, but they are now to blame," Sanjay Raut stated.
Invoking Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, Raut said that the late politician barred Pakistan from playing in Maharashtra because "our soldiers, Kashmiri Pandits, were being murdered."
He hinted that the BJP founded the Maharashtra government in the name of Bal Thackeray but did not adhere to his values.
"In his time, Balasaheb Thackeray stopped the Pakistan team because our soldiers were being murdered." Our Kashmiri Pandits were being massacred, which is why Balasaheb Thackeray stated that we would not allow Pakistan to arrive, but the BJP built a government in Maharashtra in his name. "When there is a political benefit, BJP members take his name," he explained.
The Shiv Sena, backed by Bal Thackeray, repeatedly disrupted the India-Pakistan match. They believed that cricket matches could not take place unless Pakistan ceased supporting cross-border terrorism.
The BJP created a government in Maharashtra after deposing the Uddhav Thackeray administration with the support of ex-Thackeray loyalist Eknath Shinde, who led the Shiv Sena MLA rebellion. Shinde alleged Sena under Uddhav Thackeray had strayed from Bal Thackeray's political course.
Today, India and Pakistan will square off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue will attempt to extend their seven-match winning streak against Pakistan, while the latter will try to end their World Cup drought against Team India.
