PM Modi dedicates the NMDC Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh's Bastar and claims that it will provide 50,000 jobs

Steel production is a well-known industry in Chhattisgarh. More attention is being paid to infrastructure improvement. A new steel facility will provide work prospects for 50,000 people.

In Jagdalpur, Bastar, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi lay the cornerstone on a number of development projects totaling more than Rs. 26,000 crore on Tuesday. He dedicated the Nagarnar steel factory of NMDC Steel Ltd. to the country.

An integrated steel mill owned by the National Mineral Development Corporation (NDMC) in Nagarnar was officially opened by the prime minister during his trip to the region's tribal heartland. According to the official release, the PM also laid the cornerstone for other state-funded development projects totaling more than Rs 26,000 crore.

Thousands of people will have the opportunity to find work at the steel mill in Nagarnar owned by NMDC Steel Ltd., as well as in supporting and downstream sectors. It will advance the socioeconomic development of the area and put Bastar on the global steel map.

Also dedicated by the PM were a new rail line between Antagarh and Taroki and a project to double an existing rail line between Jagdalpur and Dantewara. He also started work on the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme's reconstruction of Jagdalpur Station and the doubling of the Boridand-Surajpur train line.
