Sanjay Singh, an AAP Rajya Sabha MP who was arrested on Saturday in connection with the alleged liquor scam case, told a Delhi court that the Enforcement Directorate was attempting to transfer him to a local police station without a CCTV camera, where he could be tortured. The court, however, dismissed the petition because the ED stated that they wanted to relocate Sanjay Singh since a pest control service was scheduled at the prison where Sanjay Singh was housed. The AAP MP questioned why the ED had only one jail and why he was being transferred to Tughlak Road police station for pest control.
According to the petition, Sanjay Singh protested the transfer and was forced to sleep outside the prison while being exposed to inhumane treatment.
The plea was dismissed by special judge Vikas Dhull after the ED indicated that it had no intention of moving Sanjat Singh and that the pest control was pre-planned.
Sanjay Singh was arrested on Wednesday after the ED searched his home for several hours. The ED was given five days custody of the Rajya Sabha MP on Thursday. Sanjay Singh's first night in ED detention occurred on Thursday, October 5, when the ED attempted to relocate him late at night.
'Is there no other room at ED headquarters?'
When the AAP MP questioned the ED about the alleged moving, they offered a "very strange and strange reply" that it was due to the usage of pesticide in the jail, according to Sanjay Singh's application. According to the application, he may have been transferred to another lock up.
