Asian Games champion Indian cricket teams present Prime Minister Modi with a signed bat

The Asian Games will be held in 2023. The Indian cricket team presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an autographed bat at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday, during the PM's meeting with gold medal-winning cricket teams and other Asian Games medal winners.

At the just concluded Asiad in Hangzhou, China, the Asian Games contingent earned a record 107 medals, including 28 gold.

The Indian cricket team, who won gold in the Marquee event after defeating Afghanistan, presented the signed bat to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as shown in the photo:

PM Modi stated that India's medal total at the Asian Games is proof of the country's success.

"It is India's best performance in Asian Games till date, and personally, I am satisfied that we are moving on the right track," the Prime Minister was quoted as saying.

"Because of your hard work and achievements, there is an atmosphere of celebration across the country," he said.

"I am pleased that our 'Nari Shakti' performed admirably at the Asian Games." It demonstrates the capacity of India's daughters," he remarked.

The Prime Minister stated that, while there is no shortage of potential in the country, Indian athletes were unable to translate their efforts into gold due to a variety of challenges.

This is the first time India has won 100 medals at the Asian Games. In 2018, India won 70 medals in the Jakarta Games.

"Many events have had decades-long waits for medals because of your efforts," the Prime Minister stated.

"In many disciplines, you not only opened an account but blazed a trail that will inspire a generation of youth," he went on to say.

Modi also credited the Centre's TOPS and Khelo India initiatives for the increase in medal tally.

"Our players are the 'GOAT', i.e., Greatest Of All Time, for the country," he remarked.

He also advised the sportsmen to support the millets and POSHAN campaigns in the fight against narcotics.

The Prime Minister told the athletes that money will never be an impediment to their endeavors.

"Our faith in the youth was the basis of the slogan '100 paar', and you have lived up to that faith," he said in his speech.
