Indian officials will submit the Malayalam film "2018" for the Oscars in 2024

The critically acclaimed film '2018,' also known as '2018: Everyone is a Hero,' has been chosen as India's official entry for the 96th Academy Award, in the Best International Feature Film category. This is a significant accomplishment for the Malayalam film industry and a joyous day for Mollywood movie fans. According to ETimes, TP Aggarwal, president of the Film Federation of India, confirmed this.

Sources claim that the film was chosen because it explores a universal topic and the terrifying circumstances surrounding the devastating 2018 Kerala floods that wrecked devastation in the state.

The movie, which was written and co-directed by Jude Anthany Joseph and Akhil P. Dharmajan, stars Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Narain, and Lal in addition to a large ensemble supporting cast.

The movie's selection as India's official submission for the 96th Academy Awards is evidence of its potent storytelling and convincing portrayal of a major global subject. '2018' captures the bravery and resiliency shown by individuals during this disaster. The 2018 Kerala floods were a terrible event that had a lasting impact on the area. '2018' was expertly and sensitively directed, and it not only recounts the horrific events of the floods but also demonstrates how resilient mankind is in the face of hardship. It appeals to audiences by addressing a universal problem that cuts across national and regional borders.

The choice to submit "2018" to the Oscars highlights the rising stature of Indian cinema on the world stage, particularly for films that deal with significant global issues. '2018' carries with it the dreams and aspirations of a nation as it gears up to represent India at the Oscars in 2024. It also conveys the notion that cinema can serve as a potent tool for bringing attention to international concerns and honouring the human spirit in the face of hardship.

'2018' not only received favourable reviews but also proved to be a huge box office success.
