In a disturbing story from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, a 12-year-old girl who was bleeding and partially naked after reportedly being raped was turned away from assistance. A CCTV camera at Badnagar Road, around 15 km from Ujjain, captured the incident.
In the footage, a young person who appeared to be injured and partially naked was seen unsuccessfully knocking on doors while pleading for assistance. Even when she approached a man outside his house for assistance, he pushed her away.
The girl ultimately found an Ashram, where a priest covered her with a cloth and hurried her to the local hospital, according to sources. The local hospital's medical examination of the child revealed that rape had occurred.
The young woman was subsequently sent to Indore because of the severity of her wounds. When she required blood for her treatment, officers stepped up to give. We now know that her condition is stable.
When the authorities questioned the girl her name and address, she was unable to respond clearly.
Under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, a rape case has been filed against an unnamed accused.
A special squad has been put together, according to Ujjain police chief Sachin Sharma, to find and apprehend the culprits as soon as possible.
"Raped was, as determined by the medical assessment. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established, and we are constantly monitoring this. We request that anyone with knowledge contact the police, Sharma added.
"The girl was unable to provide us with a precise location of origin. She may be from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, though, based on her accent," he continued. Police from Uttar Pradesh have also been alerted about the incident.
