Who Will Be The Rajasthani BJP's CM Face? Reveals From PM Modi in Chittorgarh

There have been rumours of internal strife in the BJP prior to the Rajasthan poll, since top leader and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje has already skipped numerous significant party meetings. A major meeting with all state party officials was held last week during which Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda addressed the party's election strategy and candidate selection. Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to the state where he had previously attacked the Congress-led administration harshly.

In his speech to a crowd in Chittorgarh, Prime Minister Modi also voiced his sorrow over the criminal activity in Rajasthan, claiming that Congress "has destroyed the state" during the previous five years. "It bothers me that the state ranks first in crime lists and crime incidents...which state leads in rioting...Which state leads in stone-pelting incidents? Which state leads in crimes against Dalits and women? Which state has the poorest reputation? He inquired, "Was this the basis for your vote for Congress?"

When the opposition questioned the BJP's candidate for chief minister in Rajasthan, Prime Minister Modi responded that the lotus emblem represents the party and that voters should only push that button.

He claimed that only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could bring about Rajasthan's overall growth. The central government's top focus, he declared, is the development of Rajasthan. The chief minister of the state that is going to the polls, Ashok Gehlot, was criticised by the prime minister for having "accepted defeat."

He expressed his optimism in the BJP's victory and stated that it would carry on the welfare-oriented programmes of the Congress while tackling "corruption" seriously. Earlier in the day, PM Modi announced a number of construction projects in Chittorgarh totaling more than Rs 7,000 crores.
