The event of Neeraj Chopra has been marred by controversy; the Olympic champion has been asked to retake the first throw

Neeraj Chopra's amazing first throw was not counted by the organizers at the Hangzhou Olympic Park Main Stadium amid some fairly strange scenes during the 2023 Asian Games Men's Javelin Throw final. The World and Olympic champion began with a tremendous throw that appeared to be above the 85-meter mark and could have earned gold, but no results were supplied by the organizers.

After a 10-minute delay during which the organizers had lengthy conversations, Neeraj was requested to retake his throw, with the first attempt not counting. As of now, neither the Chinese organizers nor the Olympic Council of Asia have issued a formal explanation.

Neeraj's second throw was not as spectacular, and he only began with an 82.38-meter toss. Neeraj's second throw improved his score to 84.49m. His throw was called back.

This is the second time an Indian player has had to deal with some strange officiating. Jyoti Yarraji was facing disqualification after a false start on Sunday. However, replays revealed that Yarraji was not at fault, and that it was the fault of the home athlete. After the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) filed a protest, Yarraji's bronze medal was raised to silver.

Kishore Jena's second throw was red-flagged, bringing the night's issues to a close. Replays, however, revealed that there was no foul and Jena had not crossed the line. Neeraj rushed to his fellow Indian's aid, and after a review, the decision was changed and the throw was white-flagged. On his third effort, Kishore throws an amazing 86.77m.

Neeraj is seeking to defend his 2018 championship and cap off a stellar year in which he won the World Championship gold medal for the first time in his career.
