Rajasthan: Hindu Organizations Protest in Jaipur Against Gehlot Government Over Road Rage Incident

On Wednesday, Hindu organizations protested the state government over a road rage incident that occurred late Friday in Rajasthan's Jaipur.



Hindu organizations have come out in force to demand accountability from the authorities.

According to an Indian Express article, communal tensions erupted in the pink city on Saturday when a 17-year-old was allegedly slain in what the police claimed was a misunderstanding during a road rage incident.

The incident occurred late on Friday under the jurisdiction of the Subhash Chowk police station.

According to Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph, "two motorcycles collided and (one of the) two people who stopped to see it was assaulted by locals." There was no ulterior intent; it was simply a mistake."

Angry demonstrators gathered on Saturday to protest and lock down stores in Subhash Chowk and Ramganj. They had also barricaded the roadways. Communal conflicts in the city prompted the deployment of additional police forces to preserve law and order.

What occurred in Jaipur?

Two bikers collided on the road near Mehra Colony and started fighting. Residents of the colony intervened and asked the two not to fight and to go their separate ways in response to their spat.

The disaster that resulted in the youth's death occurred after one of the bikers left at the request of the resident. However, the other motorcyclist, who was still on the site, got into an altercation with the resident of the colony. Tensions rose as people began hitting and beating the rider. Following the attack, the man died on the spot.

Iqbal, a Jaisinghpura resident, was recognized as the dead. According to an India Today story, his relatives claimed that he was died after being hit by a car. However, Iqbal's family declined to allow a post-mortem examination.

A video of the event went viral on social media, showing someone from the crowd slapping Iqbal and another dragging him.

The Jaipur municipal authorities promised a Rs 50 lakh settlement, job, and dairy stall for Iqbal's family. His family begged that the suspect be apprehended as quickly as possible.

A case has been filed at the Ramganj police station, but no arrests have been made.
