BMW sells a record 9,580 vehicles

BMW Group, the German luxury vehicle manufacturer, recorded a 10% increase in overall automobile sales in India in the first nine months of 2023, at 9,580 units, pointing to another record year. BMW Group India reported that the group's three brands -- BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad (two-wheeler) -- had the best-ever January-September period sales in the country.

The BMW brand sold 8,998 units in the first nine months of the year, up 10% from the same period last year, while the MINI brand sold 582 units, also up 10%.

BMW Motorrad, the group's premium motorcycle brand, sold 6,778 units from January to September, up 26% from the same time last year.

"After the first half results, which was the best ever first half in our history, quarter three has been even more promising because we knew that we did all the launches in the first quarter of 2023 and all the suppliers ramp up started from the second half of this year...we have the best quarter three results," Vikram Pawah, president of BMW Group India, told PTI.

"It shows that the growth is going to be promising, now that the holiday season is here and our supplies are back to normal," he added. As a result, we anticipate very strong growth.

BMW Group sold a record 5,867 automobiles in India in the first half of 2023, up 5% year on year, while premium motorbike sales under the BMW Motorrad brand increased by more than 50% to 4,667 units.

When asked if 2023 will be another record year for sales, surpassing what the company accomplished in 2022, Pawah responded, "It will be absolutely a record year, that's what we expected when we started the year." Its sole purpose is to deliver that.

On the basis for his optimism, he stated, "The demand is robust, and the supply situation is improving." As a result, you will already see it reflected in the delivery figures, and we anticipate a robust double-digit rise by the end of this year.

BMW Group reported record sales of premium vehicles and motorbikes in India in 2022, with 19,263 units sold. Customer delivery vehicle brands BMW and MINI increased by 35% to 11,981 units last year, while the group's motorcycle branch, BMW Motorrad, also had its highest-ever motorcycle deliveries of 7,282 units, representing a 40% increase.

Pawah also stated that BMW has found significant traction with its electric vehicles, with total sales of 1,000 units since the business began deliveries last year.

"That's a big achievement in a very short time and we are on track to deliver 1,000 total electric cars within 2023 itself," he said.

The firm stated that it supplied "five times more electric vehicles" from January to September 2023 than it did in the same period in 2022.
