At the Science City in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday officially opened the 20th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The summit, which Modi founded while he was Gujarat's chief minister, intends to highlight the state's accomplishments and prospects to the rest of the globe. The prime minister stated in his speech that the previous federal government "used to link Gujarat's development with politics." Even after so much bullying, international investors came to Gujarat. "Minister of then central govt used to refuse to come to vibrant Gujarat...they used to threaten foreign investors and tried to stop them (foreign investors) from coming to Gujarat."
Vibrant Gujarat was praised by PM Modi as a "programme of bonding" as opposed to merely a "programme of branding". He claimed that the summit was evidence of his close relationship with the Gujarati people, who had faith in him and backed his plans for growth.
He also remembered how the previous federal administration tried to undercut Gujarat's development by politicising it and restricting foreign investment in the region. Despite the dangers and challenges, Gujarat, he claimed, continued to draw attention and investment from around the world.
"When Vibrant Gujarat first began, Gujarat lacked any large hotels where foreign visitors might stay. We utilised even university guesthouses since even government guesthouses used to fill up quickly, Modi added.
He claimed that Vibrant Gujarat served as both a venue for progress and a window into the future. He claimed that the summit was a means of boosting Gujarat's self-assurance and opening up dialogue with the rest of the world on an equal footing.
Additionally, PM Modi thanked the state administration for organising the celebration of Vibrant Gujarat's 20th anniversary and expressed his joy at being a part of it. He also extended an invitation to representatives and dignitaries from different nations and industries to learn more about Gujarat's capabilities and potential.
