Danish Ali: The BJP is in a fool's paradise if it believes that it can benefit from Ramesh Bidhuri's disparaging statements

NEW DELHI: Danish Ali, a BSP member who received disparaging comments from BJP member Ramesh Bhiduri in the Lok Sabha, said on Thursday that the saffron party is living in a fool's paradise if it believes it can use Danish Ali as a political pawn.

Danish Ali responded to news that the BJP had assigned Bidhuri poll duty in the Tonk district of Rajasthan, which will hold elections later this year.

Last Thursday, during a discussion on the accomplishments of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar project, Bidhuri made the statements against Ali. The BJP MP's offensive remarks had caused a stir, with opposition leaders demanding harsh punishment for him.

"The BJP's Chaal, Charitra, and Chera have been revealed. Hate speeches are being delivered inside Parliament by those who were promoting hate outside. On the one hand, they have given him a show-cause notice, and on the other, they are entrusting him with significant election duties. According to the BSP MP, those who support democracy and the constitution won't accept this.

"The BJP ought to have shown some civility. The nation's citizens anticipate certain moral behaviour from the party that bills itself as the biggest in the world. You gave him (Bidhuri) a show-cause notice; either make his response public or claim that we legitimise and reward hatred, he said. He further said, "The BJP will pay a price for this. The saffron party will receive a suitable response from the populace.

"The Gurjar community members have come to meet me; they are humiliated by such words, and Hindus have come to show their support for me. Therefore, it's possible that the BJP believed that its actions (assigning blame to Bidhuri in Tonk) would benefit them, but the common people were harmed as a result, according to the Amroha MP.

Complaints made to the privileges committee on the Danish Ali-Ramesh Bidhuri case

According to sources on Thursday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has forwarded MPs' objections regarding BJP member Ramesh Bidhuri's use of offensive language towards BSP member Danish Ali to the Privileges Committee.

While Kanimozhi of the DMK and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of the Congress called for action against Bidhuri, some BJP lawmakers, including Nishikant Dubey, claimed that the BSP member "incited" the South Delhi MP while he was speaking in the House. They urged the Speaker to look into this matter as well.

According to sources, the Chair has forwarded all of these concerns to the BJP MP Sunil Kumar Singh-led Privileges Committee.
