Former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath Slams Government Over Ujjain Minor Rape, "Chaupat Pradesh...

Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath criticised the state's leadership for failing to stop the rape of a young girl in Ujjain, saying the state has become a "Chaupat Pradesh" (ruined state).

The Congress leader's comments follow the horrifying event in which an 8-year-old child was discovered on September 25 lying unconscious in a pool of her own blood in the state's Ujjain district. Locals spotted her covered in blood and called the police, who arrived on the scene and transported the girl to the hospital where a medical investigation revealed that she had been raped.

There are numerous unreported occurrences of this type that occur frequently in the state. while others draw attention. However, we are unaware of many other such events that take place in the state. The former chief minister stated, "Aaj yeh chaupat pradesh bann gaya hai."

Police have so far detained two suspects in the investigation. Bharat Soni, an autorickshaw driver, is the primary offender and has been booked under the POCSO Act as well as IPC section 376. Rakesh Malviya, the second defendant and a fellow autorickshaw driver, has been charged with tampering with evidence.

Bharat Soni has been placed in judicial remand for seven days by the Special Court in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain. The main defendant appeared before the Special Court in Ujjain pursuant to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

The incident was reported under the purview of the Mahakal police station, according to Ujjain Superintendent of Police (SP) Sachin Sharma.

"The girl was brought for a medical evaluation as soon as we received the information. A therapist was called in to help since the girl was unable to tell the police what had transpired. Interacting with her, the counsellor was able to authenticate the attack to the Police, according to SP Sharma.

A case was opened due to medical reasons, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was created to do additional research. An automobile driver was arrested after the authorities initiated an investigation and gathered all relevant technical evidence.
